In 2008, Amit Paley was appointed as The Washington Post Baghdad Correspondent. On May 7, 2008, he participated in The Washington Post Panel, specifically in the discussion entitled “America and the World in 2008," on the evolving sectarian tensions in Iraq. He presented the emerging and developing strains between Sunni and Shia groups in the Middle Eastern country.

On July 11, 2007, Amit spoke to CSPAN about the Congressional decision to increase government subsidies and financial aid for students. In his analysis and evaluation, Amit explained how the 5-year distribution of $18 billion would lower interest rates for federal student loans, heighten Pell Grants, and pardon unpaid loans for particular situations. Amit responded to viewer inquiries, related to questions sent via email, and answered phone calls from students.

On April 21, 2007, Amit Paley appeared on CSPAN to talk about the hearing in the House Education Committee regarding the claims that President Bush mishandled the Reading First program and its annual $1 billion budget. Amit also related to the report released by the Education Department about the Reading First program, explaining the indicators pointing to a 15% improvement in reading and language fluency over the past five years. Amit took calls from listeners and reacted to emails.
